Furnora helps you furnish a room by looking at photos and floor plans you upload, working out what will fit, and showing you real products you can buy. This page explains exactly what we collect to do that, who we share it with, and how to get rid of it.
Who we are
Furnora is operated by Jared Brenner. You can reach us at jaredbrennerdeveloper@gmail.com.
What we collect
Photos and floor plans you upload. We store them so we can measure the space, generate a design, and show it back to you later. Images are resized before upload and held in encrypted cloud storage. Please don't upload photos with people in them, documents, or anything you wouldn't want stored — Furnora only needs the room.
Room and project information: dimensions, the style and palette you choose, your budget, any notes you type, which products you select or mark as already owned, and what you've marked as purchased.
A session identifier. We create an anonymous session ID so your project survives a page refresh and so we can apply usage limits. It's stored in a cookie on your device. You don't need an account to use Furnora; if you later create one, that session is linked to it.
Your IP address, in hashed form. To stop abuse and runaway costs we count requests per network, against a one-way hash of your IP rather than the address itself. We can't reverse it to find you.
Basic usage events: which steps you completed, whether a room generated successfully, and whether you clicked through to a retailer. We use this to find where the product is broken or confusing.
What we never collect: we don't take payments, so we never see your card details. Purchases happen on the retailer's own site. We don't collect precise location, contacts, or anything from other apps on your device.
How your photos are used
Your images are sent to Anthropic's API, which reads them to estimate room dimensions and describe the space. Anthropic does not use data submitted through its API to train its models.
We do not use your photos to train any model of our own, and we do not publish, sell, or share them. They are used to produce your design and nothing else.
Shopping links
When you click through to buy something you leave Furnora and land on the retailer's own site. That link may carry a tracking code so we earn a commission if you buy. This is how Furnora makes money, and it never changes what you pay.
It also never changes what we recommend. Products are ranked by what fits your room, not by what pays us.
Once you're on the retailer's site their privacy policy applies, not ours. They'll set their own cookies and we have no control over that.
Who we share data with
Only the companies that run the service for us, and only what they need: Anthropic (processes your photos and generates designs), Supabase (hosts the database holding your projects), Upstash (usage limits and caching), Vercel (hosts and serves the site), and affiliate networks (record that a click came from Furnora so we get credited).
Each of these third parties is contractually required to protect your data to the same standard described in this policy, to use it only to provide their service to Furnora, and not to use it for their own purposes.
We don't sell your personal information and we don't share it with advertisers. We'd disclose it if the law required us to, and we'd tell you unless we were forbidden from doing so.
Consent, and taking it back
Before your first upload, Furnora tells you that your images will be sent to a third-party AI service to be analysed, and asks you to agree. You can decline and still use the app — describe your space instead of photographing it, and we'll design from that.
To withdraw consent afterwards, delete the project in the app, or email us and we'll remove everything. If you have an account you can delete it and all its data from inside the app at any time; you don't need to contact us to do it.
How long we keep things
Projects and their images stay until you delete them or ask us to. Guest sessions with no saved project are cleared after 90 days. Hashed IP counters expire within 24 hours. Usage events are kept for up to 12 months in aggregate.
Your choices
Email jaredbrennerdeveloper@gmail.com and we'll action any of these within 30 days: get a copy of everything we hold about you in a structured, machine-readable format; delete your projects, your images, or your account entirely; correct anything that's wrong; or object to or restrict how we process your information.
Depending on where you live — California, the EU, the UK, and a growing number of US states — you may have these rights by law. We extend them to everyone regardless. If you think we've handled your information badly, you can also complain to your local data protection regulator.
You can also clear Furnora's cookies in your browser at any time. That ends your session and you'll start fresh.
Aggregated information
We look at patterns across all projects — which room sizes are common, which pieces tend to fit which spaces — to make the fit engine better and to decide what to build next. This is aggregated and de-identified: it can't be traced back to you, your home, or your photos.
We may publish findings from it. We don't sell it.
If the business changes hands
If Furnora is acquired, merged, or its assets sold, your information may transfer as part of that. Whoever takes it on is bound by the commitments in this policy. If that ever happens we'll tell you before your data moves, so you can delete it first if you'd rather.
Children
Furnora isn't intended for anyone under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used Furnora, email us and we'll delete the data.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access to production systems is limited. No system is perfectly secure, so we'd ask you not to upload anything sensitive — Furnora only ever needs a picture of a room.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant we'll say so in the app rather than hoping you notice.
